Go there and watch your library come to good use.
Your string handling functions are excellent!
(It’s a pity that you don’t have an english version of your site!)

Thank you Tommy for your feedback. I am happy to see that people find my scriptlib useful!

Is there a script that will make a smart-group of any contact that has “other” email label and/or “other” phone label? I sync with Google contacts and any contacts that has the “other” label for phone or email gets duplicated on sync every time (sometimes causing dozens of duplicates!). I need an easy way to ID all of the contacts affected so I can change the “other” label to “work” or “home.” I thought your switch fields script might help, but it doesn’t seem to include those options. Thank you!

I think this is possible… I am on it and will send you a preview of the script when it is ready =)

    Hi!

  10. Alex says:

Ja schon. aber man muss dann für jede adresse manuell eingeben, was es ist… mail work oder phonenummer usw. und da gibt es scheinbar keine direkte batch option, womit an alles z.b. auf mail(work) setzten kann und zusätzlich will er dann alle adressen in einen einzigen kontakt einfügen… siehst du meine schwierigkeiten?

  11. […] tab-delimited) file?! If that’s what you need, Mail Scripts works wonders. There’s also Hubi’s Address Book Scripts, although I wish he’d make one that would help eliminate duplicate data even if they happen […]

I am trying your scripts now. Thanks for making them available. I have a simple goal that I cannot figure out yet.I have a database that gives a name in a variable. I want to first check if the name is already added to Address Book and if it is not, to add it. I am not finding a way to check if name is a match. Here is what I have found so far, not working:

    tell application “Address Book”
    set thePerson to “Steve Smith”
    try
    tell application “Address Book”
set foundPerson to (first person whose name is thePerson)
    end tell

This will yield “Steve Smith” not found, and actually, it is there.

Thanks if you can suggest a solution. Of course the name in quotes will be replaced by an outside variable once I can see that it is working as it is.

    Hello

Is there a way to integrate address book data into ical.
    |For example, enter data about a patient in address book then when you enter his appointment in ical, all his data is transfered there. |Even some sort of contextual menu in ical even an auto fill feature.

This is for a doctor friend of mine who0 would like to integrate ical and address book more so that there is only one point of entry.

Also, is it possible to create a script to drag and drop a name from address book to ical directly from address book?

    Thanks so much

  16. Hubi says:

    Hi Nicolas,

there could be a way to do so.. But before we go any further, has your friend already tried Bentoo?
That would be a cool way to setup a simple database that resides to ical’s and adress book’s data base and you can link aditional data-fields to it…. And it would also work on iPhone and iPad.

If that is not an option let me know and I would try to figure out another way using AppleScript/Automator.
